Vigo , a modern and cosmopolitan city, has grown a great deal in the XX Century, yet it has also managed to maintain its tradition, its culture and its own identity. Below you will find a list of places of reference that you must not leave without seeing, as well as a full list of Museums.

The Old Town - "O Casco vello" of Vigo
In the centre of the city, near the sea, is the old town. "O Casco Vello " contains some must-see spots such as the old fishermen's neighbourhood of Berbés, Calle de los cesteros, Plaza de la Constitutción, Calle Real, the “Mercado da Pedra”, Calle de las ostras and the neoclassical concathedral.

Bouzas neighbourhood
Bouzas has beaches, a promenade, a bicycle route, an historic town, a marina, a fishing port, a ship yard, bars and restaurants with excellent offers.

The Fort – “EL Castro”
The fort is located in the centre of Vigo , and is one of the city's most visited parks, particularly by tourists. At the highest point of the park is the XVII Century walled fortress which, thanks to its privileged location, provides wonderful views of Vigo and its ria. In the lower part of the northern hillside, you can see the archaeological excavations of the Iron Age fort.

Quiñones de León
The gardens of the Quiñones de León country house date back to the end of the XIX century. These beautiful gardens have five different parts: The access garden, the rose garden, the “ French Garden ”, the “ English Garden ” (or “Tea Garden”) and the rear gardens and wood. The French Garden has been compared with a scale reproduction of Versailles . It has a beautiful layout and is an absolute must-see.

Castrelos
With a surface area of 22,000 m2, Castrelos park is Vigo 's largest city park. The perfect place for leisure in the city: an open air concert auditorium, an artificial lake with aquatic birds, areas for walking, children's play areas, rest areas and plenty of space for sports. The park also boasts a large number of tree and bush species.

Other parks and gardens
La Alameda is an historic park that was built at the end of the XIX century. Wonderful sculptures by artist Jose Luis Medina and the Galician sculptor Camilo Nogueira decorate la Alameda .

In the Teis parish and with a privileged position next to the Ria, is the Parque de la Guía, crowned by the chapel of the same name. This park is a natural area with gardens and pine and oak forests with wonderful views of Vigo 's ria. Very nearby is the la Riouxa Park , designed by the famous architect Ricardo Bofill.
