VIGO MUSEUMS

MARCO MUSEUM : Vigo 's contemporary Art Museum has a collection that specialises in Spanish and Latin-American art from the 80's onwards. It is located at Calle Príncipe, no 54, right in the centre. It opens from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:00 h to 20:00 h.

VERBUM MUSEUM : Verbum is an interactive museum of all subjects related to human communication, designed as a cultural, ludic and informative area where visitors can participate actively in the exhibition. It is located in Avenida de Samil nº 17 and opens from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10.00 and 19.00h.

GALICIAN MUSEUM OF THE SEA : This museum has informative, research and recreational functions. Its design is based on the most modern concepts of museum activity integrated into its marine environment. Its most noteworthy facilities are its aquarium (under construction), its sea pier and its lighthouse. It is located at Avenida Atlántida 160 and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 h. and from 17:00 to 22:00 h. (Friday and Saturday until 23:30 ), and Sundays it is open all day from 10:00 to 22:00 h.

CAIXANOVA CULTURAL CENTRE : Located in Antonio Palacios' architectural gem, the Teatro García Barbón building located in the Avenue of the same name, the Caixanova Cultural Centre is one of Spain 's best cultural centres. This centre boasts art and culture in all its splendour: opera, theatre, concerts, cinema, art exhibitions, conferences, dance, reading. Consult the programme to see what's on this week.

CAIXANOVA SOCIAL CENTRE : More than 5000 square metres in the heart of the city dedicated to social, cultural and business assistance works. In the Naturnova room, we are introduced in an active way to the Universe, our planet and the environment. It also has a sample of the Caixanova collection, the largest Galician art collection in the world.

LISTE MUSEUM : Nine permanent exhibition rooms containing more than 2000 pieces that introduce the visitor to the Galician handicraft trades, the rye culture, the traditional wheel, locks, textiles, excavated wood, light, the material of faith and art of healing.

It is located at Rúa Pastora nº 22 behind the Traviesas Sports Pavillion. It opens Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 h. and17:00 to19:00 h.

QUIÑONES DE LEÓN MUSEUM: Located in a beautiful country house, this museum contains one of the best galleries of Galician art. It also houses an archaeological museum, which contains pieces ranging from the year 1500 to 600 B.C. It is located in the Castrelos Park, the heart of the city, and opens Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 to 13:30 h. and from 17:00 to 20:00 h., Wednesday from 10:00 to 20:00, Saturdays from 17:00 to 20:00, Sundays and Holidays from 10:00 to 13:30 h.
