FESTIVALS, FAIRS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
There's no way you'll be bored in Vigo, because it has everything: concerts, regattas, rallies, horse riding competitions, theatre, dance festivals, opera, thematic festivals, gastronomic fairs, flying exhibitions, rapa das bestas , processions, public festivals.
Car lovers are in luck, because every year, the Rally Rias Baixas competition is held in Vigo . And as if that weren't enough, you can always see the latest innovations at the motor show which is held in the IFEVI exhibition centre.
The international Show Jumping Competition (CSI) gains more and more followers every year. The existence oft his beautiful sporting test demonstrates this city's love for horse riding, which goes back to the end of the last century. CALENDAR OF GASTRONOMIC, PUBLIC AND RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS
The 28 March is the day we celebrate the Representation of the Reconquest in Vigo 's old town, in memory of the war between the people of Vigo and the French troops in 1809. This takes place in the Plaza de la Constitución, in Vigo 's C asco Vello .
Easter Week: 40 days after Carnival, this essentially religious festival is held. Amongst the numerous religious acts, particularly noteworthy are the triple procession on Maundy Thursday and the nocturnal Via Crucis of the Monte de a Guía on Good Friday. 2nd Sunday of May: Symbolic enacting of the arrival of Spring in the Plaza de la Constitución. Spring is represented by a young girl dressed up and adorned with flowers and accompanied by women and little girls dressed in white.
